Sue Harris Family Practice Research Grant
Applications are now being accepted for the Sue Harris Family Practice Research Grant. This grant will support novice researchers who are family doctors or family practice residents in BC to undertake a small study or a pilot project. There will be up to three grants of $2500 to $5000 awarded each year. Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged to apply as long as the principle investigator is a family physician.
The "Sue Harris Family Practice Research Grant " fund was created in June 2009 to honour the life of Dr. Sue Harris, her work as the former Head of the Department of Family Practice at BC Women's Hospital and her devotion to family practice for over 30 years. It was Dr. Harris' hope that more family doctors would become involved in research in women's health. Criteria for this grant reflects her values which include:
- a commitment to full-spectrum family practice primary care
- a woman-centered focus
- collaborative care
- a holistic approach
- respect for innovation, and
- a commitment to supporting improvements in practice
